TALKIES

PRIVACY POLICY

NO DATAEffective 30 Sept 2026

Talkies does not collect personal data. There is no account, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. Your diary stays on your phone.

What stays on your phone

Your stubs, ratings, notes, tags, places, seats, prices, watchlist, settings and the poster photos you choose for your own films. Talkies keeps them in its private storage on the device. We cannot see them and we do not receive a copy.

Your phone's own backup (iCloud Backup or Android backup) can include this data. That backup goes to your Apple or Google account under their terms, not to us.

Network requests

To show posters, synopses, streaming services and new releases, Talkies sends requests to Wikipedia and Wikidata, which the Wikimedia Foundation runs. A request contains a film title or a Wikidata ID. It does not contain your diary, your ratings or any ID that identifies you.

Like every web server, Wikimedia receives your IP address and basic device details with each request. See the Wikimedia privacy policy. Talkies caches images and text on the phone so that it asks less often.

Photos and camera

When you add a film yourself, you can pick a photo as its poster. Talkies copies that one photo into its storage. It never uploads it. Talkies asks for access only when you tap to pick a photo.

Files you export

CSV exports, JSON backups and share images go only where you send them with the system share sheet.

Children

Talkies is not directed at children under 13. It collects no data from anyone, of any age.

Delete your data

Tear up a stub to delete it, or uninstall the app to delete everything. Because we hold no data, there is nothing for us to delete on a server.

Changes

If this policy changes, we update this page and the date at the top.
